How to cope with hot weather

Not all people love the hot weather, and some even find it hard to cope but there are ways around this. One way to ensure you can cope with the weather, dress simply, wear light clothing and probably as little clothing as you can, which is more acceptable when on holiday in a hot country. Wearing loose-fitted clothing will allow more air to circulate and keep you cooler.

Also, wear footwear that breathers, wearing trainers or high top shoes in a hot country is very sensible as your feet will be getting extremely warm and there will be no way for them to cool down. Putting on a pair of flipflops will allow your feet to breathe and get air keeping you overall a little cooler.

One of the most important things to do is to stay hydrated, as water is essential for keeping your cool during hot weather. Even if you don’t feel thirsty it is good to keep drinking to constantly keep you cool and to make sure you don’t become dehydrated at all. It is also a good idea to freeze a bottle of water to carry round with you as water will get warm very quickly in hot weather and so over time the iced water will gradually melt allowing you to drink it and stay cool.

It is also very handy to carry round a little pocket fan. This will then allow you to keep cool continuously and whenever you need to cool down you can use this. Finally, if you have children it can be difficult to stop the moaning of “i’m too hot” but by making a game out of it, it can make the whole experience more enjoyable. If you have access to water balloons you could use these to make staying cool fun, get them to throw them around at each other, so therefore the water will keep them cool. Eating can also help cool you down so why not spend the afternoon making and eating your own frozen treats for example: ice cream, frozen fruit and slushies.

These are just a few tips on how to keep cool in the heat, but other than that, enjoy it! If you’re in the UK and it is warm, make the most of it, its not likely to stay around for long. But if you’re abroad in the warm weather take advantage of the blue seas and swimming pool that may be available in your hotel.
